Different branches of the US military...?

So I'm a junior in high school and the idea of being in the military has always kinda appealed to me... But I think once I got out there (if I was deployed and literally fighting/killing), I think it would be too much for me to handle. But maybe the Army Reserve or National Guard wouldn't be as intense as that?? I think it'd be cool to be stationed close to home and be a support and work for the army without being in combat. I'd like to be able to see family on a regular basis... Is this a realistic goal when dealing with military careers? Please help me understand the different branches of the US military and suggest what might be good for me. Thanks a ton :)

The air force is the weakest branch. If you are looking at a less intense branch, the air force is about as intense as girl scouts. Avoid the Army and Marines.

Wow, Rithik should be kicked off of Yahoo Answers for making claims he knows nothing about. Yes, there are more Guardsmen in Iraq and Afghanistan right now than Active Army soldiers. Active Army soldiers (some, not all) just don't like to admit it sometime because foreign wars are supposed to be their thing. There is always a chance that you will be deployed regardless of what service you're in, and what your job is. Personally, if I were you, I'd go Air Force or Coast Reserves if you're that concerned about not being deployed. You most likely will be deployed in any part of the Army and any part of the Marine Corp. Good luck. PS - Rithik is wrong, Billy is correct.

Well, there are literally more more National Guardsmen in combat right now than active duty, just because of how the deployment schedules are working, so don't join unless you're prepared to deploy.

Rithik - Incorrect, guy, At this point in time, there are more Guardsmen in combat than Active Duty. I hope that doesn't hurt your ego or anything. It is a fact, though. It has been mentioned around Benning and all over the news. I'm right; you're wrong. Next time, try to know what you're talking about before you decide to inform people with incorrect answers.

The marines do communicate alot, so do the army. they have extra of a brawn in the previous brains stereotype. every physique does %. on the army and Air rigidity because of the fact we are no longer everyday for finding out to purchase our "palms" grimy. yet all of us want one yet another because of the fact even however the army has alot of attack helicopters and the Marines have extra harriers and their new joint strike fighter, they have not got get right of entry to to plane companies without the army's permission. The Air rigidity with NORAD have between the main state-of-the-artwork radar and satellite tv for pc structures interior the worldwide. additionally the Airforce and army might desire to be extra sensible, becuase thats our place, we are extra effective at wrestle administration and equipment analysts, Than a forward observer.

sorry, if you are not willing to go in combat and kill. you cannot be in the us military, and especially the army (ne part, once the reserve or nat guard get in a combat zone, they are just like any other part of the army). you teammates deserve someone that is 100% okay with doing their job, those who are not, are endangering those around them.

some would say join the navy, air force, or coast guard (active, reserve or guard) but even then, there may be times you find yourself in the field just like ne soldier or marine.

do something that supports the military but dont join it if you are determined.

if your on active duty, you and your family live on a base. if you are in the reserves (reserve or guard) you will live where ever you want and train once a month. you will be home alot in both cases outside of deployments.

be advised: active duty may station you AND your family overseas in place like korea, germany or Italy

WHILE FEMALE ARE NOT ALLOWED IN COMBAT ARMS THEY ROUTINELY FIND THEMSELVES IN COMBAT

NO, THERE ARE NOT MORE GUARDSMEN IN COMBAT THAN ACTIVE DUTY SOLDIERS. PLEASE DISREGARD THAT DISINFORMATION

AIRMEN ARE ROUTINELY ATTACHED TO ARMY UNITS TO DIRECT AIR SUPPORT. PLEASE DISREGARD THAT DISINFORMATION.

You are a girl right? If you decide to go army girls cant do combat (darn)

Each branch has many plus and negatives, look through each of their web pages and see which one you like the most. Also you could go to college on an ROTC scholarship and become an officer in a certain branch. Talk to recruiters, they help a lot.
