My Mac ask for the root number at the command s terminal... what is this?

Hi, I am new to the whole Mac world, But when it comes to Windows I am the go to guy. So on my Mac I am trying to make a new Mac admin, I did it on my friends computer and he had the same type of Mac as I do now. I did this on his. Type the following:

/sbin/mount -uw /

Hit the Return Key

rm /var/db/.applesetupdone

Hit the Return Key

reboot

Hit the Return Key

But when i tried to do it on mine it ask for the Root Number.

I have no idea what this could be.

What is this? or is there anyways to get around it?

-Thanks

Update:

No, when i enter a command it ask for the root number and no cause i cant even log in cause my friend thought it would be funny to change my password and then move away so i have no way to contact him... :(

Why are you making an admin account like this?

    1) You can make one in System Preferences

    2) You can reset your current admin pass by booting the Mac install dvd and going to Utilities --> Reset Password

    3) Are you in single user mode when you do this? What command, exactly when and what shows up? After reboot it just shows Root Number?

Log onto the Apple site you are sure to find the answer there. If you have a new Mac you should have Apple help for at least 3 months.
