When I try to scan with Malwarebytes, it says Windows cannot access the specified device..no permission..?
I have the anti-virus trojan and it has locked up my computer. I was finally able to download Malwarebytes, but when I try to run it I get the following message: Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.

I had the same a few weeks ago, it was the Windows Security Suite virus and it locked everything and disabled my antispyware, even portable versions wouldn't work. I had to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows. I've decided to use Linux now because it's virus proof and much faster than Windows. Good luck, I hope you manage to get rid of it.

First, ensure that you are running malwarebytes as an administrator.
Next, see if the file is currently running. Check your active processes.
Else, try starting your PC is safe mode.

how are you able to click on the Google bar in internet Explorer in case you are able to no longer get internet Explorer to open? in case you have become the message while internet Explorer is already working and you're attempting to make it do something, we would desire to understand precisely what that something is previously we can enable you. The message itself, without our understanding precisely what you have been doing that brought about it, has too many achieveable reasons for us to be of any help to you. (itemizing some dozen possibilities does not enable you.)

Reboot, Press F8, Choose safe mode with networking.
Then do a scan. If it fails, download some alternate os scanner, like http://pctools.com/aoss
