As anyone bought eyeglasses online?

I found some sites where you can buy the lens and frame online and it is a lot cheaper then buying them from a real store even with insurance. As anyone done this before and what are some good online sites?

You really hit the nail on the head - there is a HUGE markeup in stores.

I recently bought glasses from www.replacementlensexpress.com. I'm not sure where you live, but they are based in Connecticut so if you live in the states, you can get your glasses in 3-5 days. The company has been around for about 28 years so I trusted that the quality would be good, and it was.

Go online to check out the prices for lenses. The only thing is, the site doesn't show their frame selection. What I did was I shopped around, found a pair of Kate Spades that I liked, and then e-mailed them at info@replacementlensexpress.com and gave them the make and model number of the frame. They were able to order the frame (and only charged me the wholesale cost), put my new prescription lenses in, and ship it right to me. So do your homework and ask them for a price quote via e-mail.

I think that if you see something else online that's cheaper- either the lenses or the frames, they will match or beat the price.

    Good Luck!

I got glasses from 2 places, nice designer ones from www.go-optic.com and a cheaper set of non-designer ones (a spare pair) from www.zennioptical.com. There were no problems with either pair. The thing I liked about the on-line places was they have zillions of frames, way more than a local shop would stock. It is cheaper, but you give up having them fitted, free adjustments, minor repairs, etc. So keep that in mind when ordering. The other thing with getting them on line is that if they turn out to be the wrong prescription or some other defect, it is a little more complicated to deal with it as you don't have a local shop to handle it. (This doesn't happen that often).

Anyway there are lots of places other than the 2 I listed

After all, female sharpshooters have been around for a long time long before Phoebe Ann Moses, nee Annie Oakley, was shooting the wicks out of burning candles. I didn't see any genderspecific gun recommendations on Second Amendment Sisters or similar organizations.
