Can someone tell me roughly how much it would cost to put a fireplace in a trailer/mobile home?

I would like to put a fireplace in a trailer/mobile home. Roughly how much would it cost? What kind of contractor would you call? I'm sure you could get the really expensive ones, but I was thinking more of what it would cost to install it? Thanks!

You can never really tell until you figure out how elaborate the fireplace is going to be. Go check out http://fireplacedesign.blogsavy.com/ and see if you can find some good designs there. Either way though, a fireplace can increase the value of your home, so that is always good :)

Hard to say because every installation is a bit different but it could easily be $1000 for installation, and you didn't say if you meant wood or gas. Insulated stovepipe is expensive. Find a chimney sweep. They usually install stoves and fireplaces. You can check the phone book, or ask at a store that sells wood stoves and gas fireplaces. Not Home Depot but one that specializes in them. If you decide on a wood stove instead of a wood burning fireplace, which is the smart choice because wood fireplaces are extremely poor at heating a place, then one thing you have to watch for when choosing a stove is that it's approved for mobiles. I'm in a mobile and have to have one like that here. They consider that mobiles are so well sealed that any wood stove installed in one has to have outside air fed directly to the stove so the stove doesn't get starved for air. I could guarantee that mine isn't that well sealed but "the rules is the rules".

    Hi Ada,

Seems everyone has chimed in on the 'No' answer for fireplaces in mobile homes. Understandably as well. However, if you are going to proceed with this addition of a fireplace, you may want to check with your insurance company and policy coverage to be certain that this will be covered in unforeseen event you need coverage.

    Good Luck.

Most jurisdictions would not allow a fireplace to be installed in a trailer.

The fire risk is too great.

It won't cost hardly nuthin' to put it in. Heck me'n Daniel will do it for a 6 pack of Shiner Bock.

Gettin' in to work right will be more though. You can see the details in this here site: http://www.mytrailerpark.com/

It's a great place to learn all about trailer livin' and why it's so much better'n livin' in a stick built house.

I'd say call you're local fire department, first. Putting a fireplace in a trailer home, to me seems like an extreme fire risk.

No one can answer this. Too may variables.

Just go to any store, except HOME DEPOT AND LOWE'S, pick out the stove you ant, and ask how much for install.

Makes no difference which one for a manufactured home. Any stove that is installed correctly is allowed and safe.

I'd check about building codes. I really don't think it would be allowed in a trailer.....too much chance of something bad happening.
