What's a good bass amp for around or less than 300 dollars?

I had a problem with everyone being louder than me at practices and plus I needed one since my current sucks. I was gonna get a PA System but Im thinking this is worth it more. So I'd like a tube amp, I was looking at Orange Amps and stuff. Any ideas?

Update:

Obama and Harry Reid put my dad out of work and I'm a kid. I have 150 and my parents are meeting the rest for Xmas. .... derp. I'm trying to make more money by playing for friends and getting known by my friends and hopefully more.

    Hello there,

Tube bass amp powerful enough for gigging for less than $300. That will be a tough find.

Hartke, Peavey. Ampeg, and Gallien-Krueger are all good bass amps. In your price range, I think you are going to have to get solid state. Also think in terms of used. You can get a much better amp for that amount of money if you buy a used one. Check your local want ads and Craigslist.

Here are a couple heads on eBay that might be powerful enough, if your band is not too loud. With these heads, you will need to find a compatible speaker cab. That should be a local find because shipping gets expensive on big speaker cabs. I had an empty 4x12 cab shipped to me and it over over $100 for the shipping. Unless it is a special cab, shipping on big cabs is too expensive. Buy them locally.

    Hartke 200 watts

That one is a true auction and it may go up around $200. If so, it is out of your price range.

    Peavey 200 wats.

This is an auctionk, but has a buy it now price of $130. Not a bad deal.

You should be able to pick up a bass speaker cab off craigslist. Figure that will run $150 to $200 without shipping. So, do look locally for your speakers.

You need to spend more money.

Get something with 300 watts and atleast one 12 (a celestion or something else good). Plan on about $500. You will be set for any normal indoor venue (bar, basement, living room, garage, etc.)

Line 6 makes one in that category that will shake the place and rattle windows.
