I have no idea who he is, what he's into, or what sort of cash flow you have. Going off the complete lack of information you gave me I'll go with the idea that you should buy him a book. You can probably guess what he's into reading since you know him, and books make great gifts assuming he's a reader. If he's not then I'm sorry. Again I have no idea because you gave us no info :P

It really depends what he likes and how much money you have to spend on him. Maybe you could get him some aftershave or something, or if you want it to be more personal, get him one of those identity bracelets that you can get a persons name engraved onto :)
