    The Gold Coast has many apartments to rent . If you where to rent an actual house on the beach you would pay huge money . The weather on the gold Coast is beautiful and hot in Feb The beaches are superb the water temperature excellent and we have shark nets out to sea.

    Really you could go anywhere and it's beach weather.

    Feb is a good time as most of the kids are back at school and many people are finished with their holidays. IMO I'd try to stay out of the cities and head for coastal villages such as South West Rocks or Sussex Inlet or similar in NSW.

    I'd avoid the tropical north of Australia, especially the north east coast, as it is the wet season and cyclone season as well as the peak season for Sea Wasp aka Box Jellyfish and the Irikunji jellyfish...these guys are deadly and not even locals go into the beach at those times.

    On the southeast and southwest of the country you are still getting high temps around the 90s F. Also it can be quite humid in many places with the humidity in Sydney peaking at around 70 - 80%. Afternoon thunderstorms can be quite common as well.

    ▼In the State of Queensland▼

    -THE SUNSHINE COAST - is quieter with less people on the beach. It's very close to Steve Irwin's "Australia Zoo". The places where you stay are nicer & cleaner. It's very well taken care of. This area has lots of coffee shops, shopping areas within close reach of walking distance to the beach. Pricey places though.

    -THE GOLD COAST - is very close to "Dream World"; "Warner Brothers Movie World"; "Wet-n-Wild" & "Sea World". There is a wider variety of places to stay along with many restaurants to eat at. The apartments there to rent are not to bad in price.. though, you do get what you pay for. Some places are extremely nice but the hygene & upkeep of the places are a bit poor. I guess what you're really paying for is location.

    ►DISTANCE◄

    Both of these places are withing 3-4 hours of driving from each other.

    ►WEATHER◄

    (DURING WINTER TIME):

    The weather ranges between 48°--to--> 69° degrees Fahrenheit

    & between 9°--to-->21° degrees Celcius

    (DURING SUMMER TIME):

    The weather ranges between 66° --to--> 83° degrees Fahrenheit

    & between 19°--to-->29° degrees Celcius

    ►TIME OF YEAR◄

    (January to February) would be "SUMMER TIME" in Australia

    (June, July & August) are WINTER TIME.

    ▼Toward the Right ►►► of Queensland▼

    are THE HAMILTON ISLANDS:

    These islands are a lot like Hawaii. The weather is great & The scenery is beautiful!

    There are lots of watersports, snorkeling, etc. you can have fun with over there.

    The average monthly temperatures are

    between 88°--to--> 86° degrees Fahrenheit

    & between 31°--to-->30° degrees Celcius

    Hope that helps!

    Very hot - so good time to be near a beach (just remember to stay between the flags :) )

    December, January and February is Summer for us. (If your still here after then, it will be Autumn).

    Depends on what you are looking for - Id recommend in QLD: Caloundra or Gold Coast (Gold Coast is better).

    NSW - either down the coast eg: Woolongong, Shell Harbour, Kiama is really nice (within an hr or so from Sydney).

    Hope this helps - enjoy your stay! :)

    I presume that given this question was posted from the USA, that you'll be arriving (and possibly staying) on our east coast.

    If this is the case, you don't want to be anywhere in the north. Stingers! (Google the nasties.)

    So anywhere from the central coast of New South Wales (Port Maquarie) around to Western Australia (Scarborough) is going to be fabulous.

    Remember... February is our hotest month. So if you're from a northern state, think Arizona in the height of summer (southern Australian states like Victoria/South Australia), and Florida's weather for New South Wales/Queensland.

    February is a good time to visit australia, as no one is on school holidays. I would recommend staying at either the gold coast or byron bay as they are both close to an international airport, with plenty of things to do.
