I took communications about a year ago and and was in the same situation. Just remember that your audience are students and people who make mistakes, so don't think they are demanding perfection. A couple good hints is to keep your speech conversational, don't use words you wouldn't normally use or it will make you uncomfortable. You do have to look at your audience, but a good trick is to look at their foreheads, that way you can avoid complete eye contact that will make you nervous and no one will be able to tell because it looks like you are looking behind that individual who's forehead you are focused on. Just remember to breath, don't rush yourself, and before you are called up you can tap the heels of your feet on the ground in a repeatedly, it gets the blood flowing and relieves any tension you may have building up in anticipation.
I choked up from nervousness in my first speech which lead me to receive a D on that assignment, I was sure that I was going to flunk that class. However, on my last speech I received the highest grade in the class, and received an A altogether. You will get over your nervousness in time. Good luck!

I have the exact same problem! It is super scary and i freakout too. Some good ideas are to read you paper in front of just like 2 people and work your way up, belive me it helps! Also i joined drama and that will also help a lot for your fear.

First practise infront of people who you are comfortable with. Maybe a relative or friend.
Then once you are completely confident with your presentation you can overcome your fear of public speaking :)

Practice by yourself while video recording yourself. Watch the video. Do it over and over again until you are sure you look the best you can.
