What is so horrible about life that so many teenagers are contemplating suicide?!?

I'm not sure how old you are, but do you not remember what it was like to be a teenager? It was an awkward time in life. The stress of keeping your grades up, pleasing your parents, playing sports. It may not seem like much, but from what I remember, being a teenager sucked.

Well whats NOT horrible about life? Relationships die, our parents deteriorate and die, and so do we. Greedy corporations rape the environment and ignorant religions rule people's minds. People continue to overpopulate the planet and war, famine, disease, etc never go away.

The reason people become alcoholics, drug addicts, gambling addicts, compulsive shoppers, sexual addicts, etc is because everyone is trying their best to deal with the suckiness of life.

A better question is, why dont more people commit suicide? Are they really enjoying this crap? Or are they just controlled by their instinctive fear of death?

They are short-sighted. The horrors they perceive today are surmountable, yet adolescents of today seem unable to think through their problems.

Life itself in their perception is not a valued one.
