How many cc's of motorcycle does a person need before chaps?

I will be learning on a Kawasaki Sherpa 250 cc and it's brand new. I will be riding next spring and have a DOT helmet and motorcycle jacket... and construction boots... the gloves I want are doeskin but I am open to motorcycle gloves for Christmas.

    Pick your gear to suit the riding you will do. If chaps are good for anything, it is highway riding. They will be way too hot for the work of the off-road riding you could get into on the Sherpa.

    There is no minimum cc requirement; if you want to wear chaps, do so. I happen to think they look ridiculous, and are thus best reserved for Harley riders. But it's not about how you look. If they work for you, wear them.

    p.s. I have never seen nor heard of a 200cc Super Sherpa. I only know about the 250s.

    I wouldn't 1) Start out on a dual purpose bike, 2) wear chaps unless I was in a western movie and on a horse.

    But what ever works for you. What I always recommend is;

    High vis bike jacket c/w body armour protection,

    Full face helmet

    Gloves of the motorbike kind.

    boots that go up at least above the ankle

    and as a minimum jeans, a proper riding suit would be better

    Good luck with your bike and PLEASE take a motorbike training course

    super sherpa's as far as i know have always been 200cc but anyways chaps aren't a require ment at any CC and their is no minimum standard. when i ride i where motorcross pants because it's all i have thats better then just jeans. chaps or any form of protection is never a bad idea to wear but for that specific bike i'd never where them. Chaps are built more for cruisers but if you want to start a trend of wearing them on a dual purpose (enduro) then good for you any protection is good.

    you don't need specifications to tell you what you want to wear

    if you are comfortable riding with chaps then get them...
