Is a Suzuki SV 1000 too much bike for riding around Vanvouver Island?
I see one cheap... a 2003 for 2500 dollars... it seems to be ok...I probably won't be going East just the ends of the island... on weekends.. and that's about it... I could rent one I suppose but I want my own... ...

Vancouver Island is still a large island. Riding from Victoria up to Port Hardy is over 500 km for example. You could just as easily do the trip on a SV650 but if you really want a SV1000, go for it.
BTW, what's the mileage on that bike? A friend of mine in On. just bought the same bike, same year for $4000 but it has very low mileage, just over 12K km

personally i think a 600 is adequate , you will save on purchasing and insurance but if you really want the 1000 go for it . you have to think when will you be using the power of the 1000

no it's not too much bike. There isn't a bike out there that's too much bike if the rider is skilled enough to use it. If you had a triumph rocket III and only used it to go two blocks to a gas station ok you have to much bike. but any bike is not too much if the rider is skilled with it.
