Why is it that i cant earn credits during the halo reach campaign?

Question

i was playing though the campaign and i noticed that even though free for all scoring was on and i was playing on heroic i wasn't geting any credits for my kills? noting would appear next to my mini map when i got a kill and when i ended the session i got rewarded with very vew credits any idea whats going on? is there a setting i need to turn on to get the credits?

NOTE: I was playing single player heroic,
           I have completed the campaign before now but only on co-op (legendary)
           I was only playing the 5th mission

i dunno im clueless, any help?

Check your Commendations. If some of your commendations are past Silver, then you won't get credits for that commendation, other than leveling it up. For example, the Flawless Cowboy commendation. That requires you to finish a mission without dying. Up until it is Silver, you will get 200cR every time you finish a campaign without dying. Once it hits Silver, you will no longer gain that 200cR.

bungie did this also for forge and custom games, so that people wouldnt tie a rubber band around the joystick and earn credits while they sleep.
