actually there was talk of this a few years back. nascar was looking into running indoor tracks with 1/4 sized cars,i believe the track was going to be a wooden track that was to be taken from event to event. the events where going to be in arenas or civic centers kind of like arena cross of the moto x world. the slingshot division of dirt (1/4 sized dirt modified's) is the closest example of these types of miniature cars i can think of. if memory serves me correctly jeff gordon was for this and may have been involved in some form. i cant remember all the details and if someone knows where to find this info please email me with it. (i cant seem to find any accurate nascar info on this). but anyhow it fell through and i haven't heard any thing about it in years. i do believe that it wasn't billed as a event the stars of nascar where going to race but a attempt to get another form of grass roots nascar sanctioned racing up and running. the cars would have cost around $6000 turn key. again this is from memory, i could have some facts wrong.

I think it would be great. But look at the consequences: Damage of the Ears, Damage of the lungs, Carbon Monoxide poisoning. I would love to see an indoor track but it would cost $$$ to make it. Lots of $$$. If Nascar could have openings in the dome or roof big, not small. But the noise would be like put 20 firecrackers near your ear. If people would wear ear plugs or ear muffs that could be solved. But the Monoxide. If you look at the facts it's improbable.

Not in this economy. Do you have any clue at the cost of a ventilation system let alone a roof :D

We'd all be blitzed on the exhaust :D

    1) How big a track are we talking? and 2) Exhaust and noise would be the main issues in this project.

It would cost way to much, and there really isn't a need for it. I would say most fans enjoy being outdoors to watch their favorite driver.

Very expensive combined with very little benefit equals not gonna happen.

  • 1 decade ago

I'm sure the smell of the exhaust would be overwhelming

  • 1 decade ago

yes once you dome up with about $3 billion dollars to have it built

  • 1 decade ago

Nope. It would be tough to ventilate and the noise would be overwhelming...

big ventilation and noise problems to cure, not worth it with current technology.
