my 300zx will shut down after 5 minuted i turn it on?

so yea my Nissan 300 zx will turn off after 5 minuted i turn it on and if i turn it on again and i don't accelerate it will turn off if i take off it will go fast at first but will go really slow later on like a 2 cylinder car one of my radiators hose got messed up and i got that fix this "Mechanic" told me it was good and everything i was driving it and turn off on me.idk u think somethign got wet on the engine or he disconnected something because that hose goes from the top to the bottom and the same mechanic told me with out checking my car the fuel pump was done.. just by what i told him .i cecked if the fuel pump was pumping gas by disconecting the fuell filters hose and turn the key on "i did not start the car ofcoruse" and gas came out so i gues the fue pump is working change the gas filter my self already. but no luck an suggestions??u guys think is a switch or chip idk ? will it come up if i hook it up to a computer? i don't got that much money to be spending like crazy i was going to spend 400$ on the fuel pump + installation and that was not the problem =[

He suggested the fuel pump because the car is choking.

Basically with any vehical, once it has started it is an almost purely mechanical thing, the only thing that is going to stop it is if it is choked of fuel. So you have ->

A few things to look at before you buy a fuel pump. If you have access to a volt meter, have a look to see the voltage to the pump when idle and then when some preasure applied. It should be (near as dam it) 12v when idle then drop slightly when you apply gas. If this is not the case then it is unlikely to be the pump's fault, instead you are looking at the regulator, but that also means that the fuel and air flows may not be right.

The fuel pump (which ought to be last on the mechanics list rather than first), if it got that far it would normally be tempting to look at a second hand part from a scrappy just to try it out. But changing it isn't fun and games because of where it is (submerged in the tank, accessible with just a couple of bolts but it is low in the tank so messy) so if it did comes to that you should pay to have it done and make sure it is a new pump rather than refurbished.

But before that, the fuel filter which I suspect would buy you time rather than be a permanent fix, but at least it is a quick, easy and cheap temporary fix. But just might prove to be the key. whether the engine is being starved of gas or air would result in the same problem you are having so this filter is a good bet. See how quickly the filter gets choked up with carp, if it is too quick then try going for one of the cleaner fuels for a time.

Ensuring the injectors and the air flow are good.

Fuel preasure regulator, my money is on this. When you press the gas to get more power the regulator slows down the fuel pump, you would see this (if you have a voltage meter) as a drop in voltage to the fuel pump. If basically means that the pump pumps less fast to improve the preasure of fuel so you have more power when it ignites (provided you have some air in there too, no gas ever exploded in a vacuum).

Sorry I just realised that you have to read this upside down because I've put the most likely sollution last, so if you could read this again whilst doing ahandstand, thankyou.

You can install a fuel pump your self. I have no idea what year model your car is?
