Why is Italy Special?

I want to hear from Italians, people living in Italy or who know Italy well. What is special about where you live and Italy in general? Tell me about your town! Some of the answers I have so far are at http://www.venice-italy-veneto.com/italy-special.h...

I'm Italian and I love my country. We have so many good things both ancient and modern. In some cities you get lost in time and you are transported to another era. Not to mention the food. There are pizza, pasta, wine and desserts that are not found anywhere else. I also know that my country has so many bad things like the Mafia but I can assure you that the majority of Italians are friendly people, the family name and tradition as opposed to say how many. Sometimes I go away from here but when I look around I realize how much I love my country and because they are happy to be born here. Then I live in Rome, which I think is the most beautiful cities in the world!

    I love Italy!

Hello! Now I live in Milan but I'm from Aosta, a lovely little town among the Alps. How to say about my country? We have beautiful landscapes, a good and varying cooking and a great cultural heritage (in every town you can see many ancient monuments); the economy is quite thriving (in north insn't hard to find a job) and we have an important welfare state (the health care is totally free). Unfortunately the italian politicians aren't estimable, then some public institutions aren't so efficient. Overall I think is a good country to live and I love it.

@olivia90 : sorry, but for me you said a lot of nonsense!

“one of the worst thing, for italy, is the pope and what he represents” first the Pope lives in Città del Vaticano not in Italy and the Church represents all the christianity. Then I don’t think he’s one of the worst thing for humanity!

“when we were young we wanted to be doctors or lawyers or cops...now italian little girls dream to become showgirls, italian little boys dream to become football players” do you think that foreign little girls and foreign little boys have different dreams?

“something else that i hate is the television hosts” do you judge a nation by the tv entertainment?

Absolutely I don't agree with you.

In Italy there are some differents between north and south. The middle and north area is very rich, there are many firms operating in differents fields (texil, food, jewels, motors, chemical, etc.), in this area we have a GDP greater than Germany. Instead in south the activities are focused above all on tourism and farming, but are less productive.

The italian culture is very important and many universities here have ancient traditions. The welfare state is substantial, so offers a lot of services; for example the education and the primary health care are free, anyway that entails an oppressive tax system.

A problem of this country are politicians, the corruption of them, but italian people in general are friendly and very nice.

well in italy we have a lot of culture, a lot of thing to see, a lot to eat!!!

unfortunately italy has become very expensive lately (and for us italians with low salaries its not easy) but once in your life you have to come here.

  • Well Americans can only stay for 90 days. which is an allowance for every 180 days of the year. Only special Americans can stay longer. and even more special americans can stay forever.

Its beautiful, everybody is gorgeous. We dont eat chemicals like americans. we walk everywhere our language is the most beautiful. and we kiss and flirt and its ok.
