Poe fans, how does Poe affect you?

What I like about Poe is that his work does not effect you immediately; but sometime later when I'm thinking over one of his stories it dawns on you the psychological drama that has unfolded. I won't call it a delayed effect but more like a slow realization. But maybe it's just me being a little slow on the uptake.

Im only in ninth grade but ive read The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Monkeys Paw and those have all freaked me out. Im starting to read authors like him like Stephen King, Bram Stoker and all of them. I am more focused on like dak stories...Im actaully feeling like I am fond of him

I find Poe simultaneously amusing and relaxing. I really do not understand why people find his work depressing.

Most of his poems depress me and others make me "scared" but annabel lee made me cry and made me think of true love
