It really depends on your preferences. Oblivion is an excellent game if you like freeform RPGs. There are a lot of quests to take part in, and the world is very expansive. You also get a much more personalized leveling system. However, the plots in Oblivion aren't quite as interesting do to the lack of protagonists other than your character. Some of the characters are interesting, but you don't get a lot of depth from them. If you are a person who appreciates the plot a lot, then I would suggest getting Dragon Age. Though the leveling system isn't quite as personalized, the gameplay is still very fun. There aren't quite as many engaging quests, but the plot of the game is very interesting and interactive.
Both games have a high replay value, in my opinion. I have replayed both of them multiple times, and I'm still not tired of either of them.

Personally, Dragon Age is better out of the box, though Oblivion (and Morrowind) are rather good sandbox RPGs, if you take a little time to mod them.

Depends on what you like. Oblivion has a lot of races to choose from. all of these races have advantages and disadvantages. You can also choose 15(I think) major skills from a list of 21. leveling these skills raises your main level, but you still can use any of the skills. all of them governed by a attribute (Strength, Agility, etc.) that you choose to raise. combat is real time witch you can switch from first person to third person view. At certain levels different armor and weapons start to appear in the game (iron followed by elven followed by mithril, etc.) a thing to note is that armor and weapons can be enhanced with custom effects, but takes up charge every time you use it(besides armor). armor and weapons can deteriorate until it broken. you can play the main quest or explore on your own and do 100s of side quests and exploration. however being older of the two games, Oblivion suffer from long loading screens, major glitch problems, and sometimes incredibly unfair combat.
since i haven't played Dragon Age, i will put a website with IGN's Review of it.
