What is the program mshta.exe?
I keep looking in my task manager and find that I have like 7-8 of this program running. I had a virus the other day that I am still recovering from and I would like to know what this program is before I delete it. And how can I track this old virus down because I am sure system restore did not delete it but more of subdued it.

Sounds like a virus, I'd like if you could find the file and scan it with VirusTotal.com to be sure.
If it's not a rouge program, it might be a bug in your Windows OS:
From a remote desktop session, you exit a Microsoft HTML application (HTA) that is published as a program on a Terminal Server. The Terminal Server is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003. After you exit the HTA program, it may appear to close. However, the Mshta.exe process that runs the HTA program does not close, although the process stops responding.

The strange thing is, it should never happen on WinXP.
To do more investigation on those .exe you can run ProcessHacker:
