For some of us yeast infections are inevitable; you can even get one because your clothes are too tight. But there are multiple ways to prevent them. The link I've provided has a lot of suggestions but here are some key ways.
Avoid too-tight clothing, and make sure your underwear is made of cotton, not synthetic fibers, so it can breathe.
If your clothes get wet, change them immediately or as soon as possible. (Such as a wet bathing suit bottom.)
Avoid using soaps or powders that are heavily scented.
Do NOT douche. Women who douche think they're being clean but they're actually at a higher risk of getting a vaginal infection. The vagina is self-cleaning.
Use water-based lubricants during sex, and if sex is painful, stop.
You can also take a supplement (such as AZO Yeast), and eat yogurt with live cultures.

Don't use scented/flavored condoms, don't wear super tight underwear or pants, and don't put sugar up your vagina.
