what would be fair price for old piano?

friend has it on loan at the moment as daughter learning to play but we could do with the cash - it is an upright John Brinsmead & Sons of London. Circa 1930. Serial no. 63357 - what would be a fair asking price for it? (we paid about £600 for it originally)

Piano prices usually deflate the older it gets. Whatever you payed for it expect about 40-50% back.

I sold an upright piano on an Ebay auction - it went for £500 and the Ebay fees were about £45 That was with the buyer collecting.

I found that most dealers are not that interested in older pianos.

Looking at this site http://search.ukpianos.co.uk/Search.asp?SearchList... £500 or so would be a reasonable price - depending of course on condition.

I agree with Wayne. Perhaps ask for a nominal £100 and give them a receipt - superior than just giving it to them!

You could have a look on ebay to see if anything similar is selling on there.

    Good luck!
