Problem with graphics card?(PROFESSIONALS ONLY)?

So i was on the ''Can You Run It?'' website and i was searching for the game ''Sims 3:Ambitions'' so i found it and let it analyze my computer and i got everything right EXCEPT my Video Card.It sayed i had a GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 which is probably the WORST video card in my opinion i don't know why my dad even has that type of card. Here's what it sayed

Video Card:

Minimum: 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 or above / ATI Radeon 9500 or above / Intel GMA 3-series or above) [GeForce FX series unsupported under Vista]

You Have: GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Required: You Have:

RAM:128 MB 1.9 GB

3D: Yes Yes

Pixel S:2.0 3.0

---------------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea what the information even means BUT i would like professionals to answer this question and tell me what it means and WHAT graphics card i should have.

In short, Yes, your system can play The Sims 3. You will be stuck at low video settings because that's all your integrated video card can handle.

My guess is that Dad didn't buy a video card because he doesn't play games on the PC. For non-gamers, integrated video is all you really need to use the PC. It's also cheaper than buying a real video card.

There should have been the word "Pass" next to your video card description if canyourunit thinks your 6150 is adequate for the game.

You also meet the other video requirements

RAM - how much memory is available for things such as textures. Your card can borrow a bunch from the main system memory

3D: all current video cards are 3D capable. Many years ago, some were only 2D (they couldn't deal with 3D gaming objects projected onto a 2D screen)

Pixel Shader: another hardware feature of graphic cards that handle shading and other color details in the card rather than forcing the CPU to do it. The newest standard is Pixel Shader 5, but few games use that.

If you want to game on that system, you'll need to buy a new video card. The best card depends on your budget, which games you want to play, PC case size and power supply rating. That might best be answered in another question - include your PC model number for better answers.

You should be able to run it...I don't know why it said you can't. Are you sure its not a warning?

In terms of the required part:

Ram: The minimum amount of ram integrated on the graphics card that is needed to run it. You have 2 gigabtyes, about 20x more than what they need

3D: Does your card support 3D graphics...most do, so this is a yes.

Pixel Shader: As far as you need to know, 3.0 is newer than 2.0, so it should be more than capable of handling 2.0 requirements.

From this, you should be able to run the program with flying colors. You have better specs in 2 of the 3 areas.

The list of graphics cards...they're the 3 major graphics card companies. Nvidia, ATI, and Intel. They're listing the lowest required cards from all 3 major companies that can run the program. In theory, any card listed with lower capabilities should not be able to run the program. The issue you might have is that your graphics card is an Nvidia integrated chip on an Nvidia motherboard. Nvidia mostly makes discrete chips, so maybe canyourunit got confused.

The only thing I can guess from this is that your computer / motherboard is a bit old. Canyourunit might not recognize it. Also, if you installed Vista / Windows 7 on your computer, it might complain since you'll be using legacy drivers. This usually won't be a problem but could be. Maybe that's why Canyourunit is complaining about it.

I'm a little curious as to how you came to the decision of that card being the worst, but you then state that you have no idea what the listed information means. Sims 3 should run pretty well on that particular card, even though it is an onboard GPU.

What card do you think you have? Why do you think that the website identified your card wrong? Why don't you give your dad some money so he can get a better video card?
