Can I get out of jury duty this way?
I moved away from my parents house. They sent me a summons to my old address which I ignored. A few months later they sent me a notice of failure to respond with a bunch of legal threats all over it (to my parents house). Can I ignore this without getting in trouble since I have moved, or will they come after me?

You really can't ignore it...jury duty is considered a civic obligation; they're currently under the assumption that you refused to show up and hence broke a law -- justifying a possible arrest warrant. Plus, you don't want that kind of thing to show up on your background check (believe me, they'll do it). Anyway, what happened with me when I was summoned is that I called the number on the letter and told them I couldn't attend; they were pretty lenient too...usually what they'll do is request your new address, maybe fax some proof of the change of address (such as a driver's license), and they'll assign you a new date. It's hard to completely "get out" of it, unless they forget to summon you again on a later date -- which is what happened with a friend of mine.

No you cannot. You are legally required to file a change of Address with the Post Office, Dept of Motor Vehicle. Yes there is a warrant out for your arrest. You are guilty of contempt of court. You cannot ignore a Court Summons

you can't ignore it or a warrant will be sworn out against you. I call up the court house and make them aware that i no longer live there ( assuming you no longer live in the district you should be fine). if you still have to go act smart lawyers don't like smart people they think for themselves.

They won't come after you. They will issue an arrest warrant, and the next time you are pulled over for speeding, you will have a very bad day.

Failing to respond is considered contempt of court and you will serve jail time and/or be heavily fined. What you should have done was call the court and told them that you had moved.

who knows if your failure to perform your civic duty will be pursued but it should. if you are a citizen of this country you have a responsibility to participate and if you don't then you should give up your right to ever complain about anything with which you disagree. you moved out of your parents home so evidently you are an adult so act like one.

They won't come after you, but you'll face the future with a possible bench warrant for your arrest. You should have notified them immediately that you had moved.
