Why do people who think consent is required for marriage think their opinion is more valid?

I think people are missing the point here. In some cultures, it is perfectly acceptable for young girls to be married off to older men, or for men to "capture" a woman they want to marry. So just because some people see marriage as being for two consenting adults of the opposite gender (or the same gender) doesn't mean that they should be ostracized for those beliefs. Marriage has meant many different things to many different cultures. Is it really fair to say that those who believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman are wrong? Or that anyone with a view on marriage is wrong?

More than that, how can we as a society attempt to force everyone to live by our standards, whatever they may be? And then the question becomes, where do we draw the line? What do we allow or not allow? And is it fair?

For the record, this isn't supposed to be an argument for or against any kind of marriage. All I'm saying is that it's wrong to condemn people for their views on it, because they're entitled to their opinions.
