Can someone help me understand some of this?
Ok so just recently I've found out there is actually such a thing as Ferret shows and I was wondering if someone could explain some of it? Like, what are the requirements in a ferret? What is like to show a ferret, how young do they have to be to be trained? And any other question you might be able to think of an answer to that has something to do with this matter.

Ferret shows are fun and inexpensive events for your furry. It's more than just a show, there are often vendors there to buy discounted ferret products, contests and sometimes educational things about pet care.
In order to get prepared, you must have the following things:
- Up-to-date vet records. Every ferret must be free of illness and up to date of shots. Proof of age is also required. Baby ferrets of ill ferrets are not allowed at the show.
- You should have an appropriate carrier for the ferret to get to and from.
- Since your ferret can't stay in a carrier all day and it can't run free, so you'll need a ferret play pen
Even pet-store ferrets can do well in the show- almost everyone that enters will get a ribbon.
Often, some of the biggest scoring areas is health and hygiene. Each different 'type' of ferret will be judged in different categories with different requirements. For example, there is an albino ring, a sable ring, a ring for ferrets with white mitts, a ring for 'senior' ferrets and a ring for rescue (shelter) ferrets. Different shows can have different categories and judging criteria, so don't be afraid to ask a pro. The best place to find information about the show is on the show's website or email someone. I've found ferret owners to be very nice and very willing to help and answer questions for others.
When you show a ferret, you come up to the judging station to give your ferret to a judge when your number is called. You give your ferret to the professional judge and they score it in the different categories. If your ferret bites the judge, they will be disqualified.

One thing is all ferrets at the show have to be healthy and have all their shots. There are registered shows.
