Can someone help explain the ferret shows?

Ok so someone mentioned a ferret show and I want to know more about them. Like well just anything, requirements in the ferret, how the show works, what age is best to get them at, and like anything else. Please.

Ferret shows are fun and inexpensive events for your furry. It's more than just a show, there are often vendors there to buy discounted ferret products, contests and sometimes educational things about pet care.

In order to get prepared, you must have the following things:

    - Up-to-date vet records. Every ferret must be free of illness and up to date of shots

    - You should have an appropriate carrier for the ferret to get to and from.

    - Since your ferret can't stay in a carrier all day and it can't run free, so you'll need a ferret play pen

Even pet-store ferrets can do well in the show- almost everyone that enters will get a ribbon.

Often, some of the biggest scoring areas is health and hygiene. Each different 'type' of ferret will be judged in different categories with different requirements. For example, there is an albino ring, a sable ring, a ring for ferrets with white mitts, a ring for 'senior' ferrets and a ring for rescue (shelter) ferrets. Different shows can have different categories and judging criteria, so don't be afraid to ask a pro.

The best place to find information about the show is on the show's website or email someone. I've found ferret owners to be very nice and very willing to help and answer questions for others.

Ferret shows are held all around the world in all times of the year. The ferret needs to be healthy and free of disease, which typically requires them to be up to date on distemper and rabies vaccines, along with ADV negative testing.

In the show, each ferret needs their own hard sided carrier, and are assigned a number. You put the number on their carrier. There are judges for each class (there are classes typically for: pet store ferrets, private bred ferrets, baby ferrets, breeder ferrets, shelter ferrets, physically disabled ferrets, elder ferrets, and then classes for standard colors and patterns along with a class for ferrets over I think 25% foreign bloodline.) So, when your ferret's class is being judged, you bring them up to the judging table with all the others. Then you can sit and watch or go and do other things while all of the ferrets in the class are being judged. Afterwards, you go over and listen to hear the winners announced (by their assigned number) and hopefully get a ribbon. =)

The age does not matter, as there are classes for every age. Someone took a picture of my ferret while being judged. This isn't my photo, but it's my ferret! =)
