MMO - advice for a noob?

Ok, this may sound stupid to some people but I'm afraid to play MMO's. It's because I never played one. I played all kinds of PC games but never mmo. The thing is in other pc games you just play by yourself and you have no other people watching what you're doing and if you do something stupid there's no one around to see it :) so, do you have any advices for noobs, what to do and what not to do in mmo's? And what are the best games(easiest) to begin with? I was thinking DDO or WoW...please no rude comments, I'm just asking for help.

I would strongly suggest WoW, it is the best, and female gamers seem to take a liking to it. It's kinda cute and animated but carries mature themes and gameplay throughout.

Most MMO's have a fairly steep learning curve, WoW handles this very well. They introduce you bit by bit to the massively complicated combat and leveling systems, it doesnt often seem too complicated to grasp. For new players they offer tips in game and always try and give you a direction in which you should be going. I went into WoW in '05 with zero prior knowledge, short of commercials on TV, and I turned out fine. I now have 4 80's all with at least a 5.5k GS (you'll know what that means soon).

Not appearing as a noob may be un-avoidable. You aren't going to learn everything over night, it will take a few months to have a good understanding of all the facets invloved. I think having kinda thick skin will go a lot further than any simple tips I could provide. Don't take anything personally, we all had to learn, it's okay. Most of us fellow WoW players are understanding, logical people (Most). For the majority we are willing to help less experienced players. There are some elitiest jerks that would make fun of simple questions, but that's what /ignore is for!

I say jump into WoW, give it a shot. I play on Turalyon/Alliance and run a guild, if you would like PST me in game, or PM me here, I'd be happy to help.

Well, i can't help you about witch game would be easiest, since i don't know much about you, but things you shouldn't do include:

    Begging

    Spamming

    annoying others

keep on asking the same question over and over again

tag along when your not welcomed

    stealing other peoples kills

    just being a noob

Trust me, you would know when you are acting like a noob. Also don't worry about asking questions, since it kind of expected for a new player, but if you ask once or twice and he or she didn't respond, then go to the next player because it obvious he or she doesn't want to talk to you. Don't beg. that a big thing. People who beg for stuff is pretty much hated by the rest of the community. sure you make get one or two sympatheic people helpin, but the rest will pretty much ignore you.

An easy MMO to begin with as well as being free is runescape. WoW and DDO cost money(about 15 a month if your an american)

The first MMO I ever played was MapleStory, it used to be a great game back in the days, but now it just sucks... don't bother with it.

WoW is a very addicting game... with a ton of trolls/jerks on it. If you do end up playing WoW, make sure you roll on a low population PvE server.

Play with friends and family. Also if you are driving the tank and someone starts to nerd rage about it, drive around in circles just to upset them more. Until the MMO "community" learns that it's just a game, being a noob can be fun.

do your research on what to do/ what to be Especially if you play WoW people think it's easy but it's the best mmo in the world because of all it's features thats why u barley see imature kids they always quit thats why cuz it's too hard for them.

basicly if you do your research then your good to go. if you dont then you will be plyaing for nothing,.

thats basicly it. besides the regular no swear and all that.

Best mmo i played was WoW.

PLayed DDO - to me it was junk.

Free MMO's i would recommend to you that are fun but somewhat challenging these are not based on graphics but gameplay

MapleStory- got to dish out tons of real cash to level up, tons of noobs/immature kids, fun other then that

Dragonica - sorta like a 3D maplestory , nice graphics, easy to play, make friends fast, all you do is Party quests which get boring.

Wonderking - Basicly maplestory but WAY easier then maplestory. pretty hard to make friends due to fact people only want to level up and not stop to talk other then that it;s super easy.

Runescape - easiest mmo you could ever play. it's somewhat like WoW in gameplay like. not graphics.

4story - WoW look alike- if your looking to play a free WoW you gotta hit up this game. not as good as WoW but it will due.

Source(s): mmo's is my thing i play it all the time an occasionally fps's. im currently playing WoW and a noob but trust me on the research thing you will thank me. it's tons of fun and you meet nice people to heklp you too.
