When I press left control key the Calculator and Outlook opens. How can I stop this from happening?

the configuration for "hotkeys" makes this happen ( or your system really thinks for itself) . just go the control panel, find the hotkeys thing( which should be under the keyboard properties if i am not mistaken) and just change the settings for your left control key
