Believe it or not swishing with bourbon killed my tooth pain for hours at a time the last time I needed dental work.

Cold or heat compresses also help.

Ambusol or other toothache medications are available.

Your problem is going to be with WHERE the pain is coming from. If it's pain in the gums or tounge the body will sometimes heal the sores pretty quickly. If your problem is nerve pain caused by decayed or damaged teeth the pain can go on for a long, long time. You'll need to find a way to get it take care of.

Check around with any local health clinics. If they don't have a dentist on staff they might be able to point to a charitable/discount dentist or one who will work on a payment plan with you.

well...unless it was sudden trauma to your mouth ...pain will come on gradually...so as soon as I feel the pain coming on..I would start saving up money..after a few weeks or so..when the pain is getting worse and worse, hopefully I'd have the money to get the problem fixed. If it was trauma..like a hit to the mouth and I needed care NOW...I would call all the dentists in my area and see who would let me make payments. There are a few dental offices in my area that let people make payments.

Answer above mine is a good one if you can find a school like that. We have a dental school here, although the students do VERY limited work along with cosmetic care.

Then you go to your primary card doctor or the emergency room. If you have severe pain they will give you an antibiotic to make sure it isnt infected. And they may pull the tooth.

otherwise you need to call a dentist and ask what their prices are for an exam and a filling or teeth pulled. Many offices have payment plans. Ask about it when you call.

Check with local universities. Most dental schools offer significantly reduced fees for treatment. They are very reliable too because the students are constantly being monitored to make sure they are performing the procedure accurately.
