Pretty processional violin songs? Simple but not boring, help sos?
Ok my dad died and for his funeral we are going to walk behind him to the grave site playing music. i play the violin and am in charge of finding some songs to play.
so it will probably take about 30 mins of walking, so i need to play for 30 mins, basically straight. i do know a song i was thinking of playing, but i think the same thing for 30 mins, no matter how i vary it, will get a little old.
does anyone know any pretty violin songs? they need to be able to hold their own without any other instruments as backup. they need to be relatively simple as i will be walking while playing them, and because i have about 5 days to learn them.
i dont care what style, as long as its pretty. my dad liked all types of music. i normally play huasteco violin, and the songs are too fast to be playing while walking, and slightly too cheerful to be appropriate considering the situation.
i cant exactly say what level i am as a violinist, ive been playing 8 years so im not a beginner.
any suggestions would be freaking awesome! maybe a link to the song so i could hear it?????
also my sister is going to be playing piano, more for his services, she also has a chunk of time to fill. shes looking for good songs to play.. idk what level shes at, but she can play the moonlight, which i think is pretty hard...

Try some favorite hymns, like Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, On Eagles Wings, In The Garden. If you can get hold of a hymnal from a church, you'll have dozens of tunes playable on violin, many of them recognizable to most people. My church uses a hymnal from OCP (ocp.org) which is paperback and replaced yearly, so I would give a copy to someone in your position. You could call Catholic churches in your area to find one that uses OCP's "Breaking Bread" or "Music Issue". By law they must throw them away when they're replaced, around Thanksgiving, so they likely will give you a copy now. Other ideas: Danny Boy, The Prayer, Ave Maria (several versions), Irish tunes.

Anything really by Jim Brickman (Angel Eyes is my favorite) Moonlight Sonata by Bach Sheep May Safely Graze by Bach Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach (again) Cannon in D by Pachebell (classic) Sonata Clara de Luna by Beethoven or heck, if you're quirky, you could use the Imperial March from Star Wars! Hope it helped!
