whos bike do i use when taking test?

im thinking of taking my motorcycle test in the new year.

ive drove bikes all my life (not always legally tut tut tut but never stolen)

but i want to do it properly and take my test.

i know that i can pass my cbt with provisional and drive up to a 125cc for 2 years but can i take my full direct access on this bike or will i need a bigger bike if i need a bigger bike do the test centre have one you can use?

it would be virtually impossible for me to get a bigger bike insured and delivered to the test centre

so is this just a way of making you have to take a course and use there bike (extra cost)

i am a very good safe motorcyclist and always pass my mock theory with 100%

but like most people i am on a budget.

thanks for any answers in advance and please no lecturing (i know)

You can use your 125cc bike for the test but check to see if your model is allowed as there are restrictions, you will then be restricted to a bike of no more than 33bhp for two years, after which you can ride anything.

If you are over 21 you can use a bigger bike for the test and get a direct access licence - or use a 125 and wait two years. these are no provided by the test centre, you will need to either buy one or speak to a training school.

    Good luck!

for direct access you'd have to go to a training school for lessons and use there bike on both tests, this can get quite costly though

you could do the 33hp for 2 years test on a 125 and then not restrict the bike when you pass and it would be alot cheaper, but thats up to you

I have to say someone you know who will let you use his/her bike. I can also say this. NO-one takes my bike. NO ONE rides it UNless of course they are riding BIT*H Let me also add that there are many places that offer a riders safety course. Taking this course is good as after you have passed it, you will have a ,license in hand AND you get an insurance discount. There are usually two courses offered. AS BEGINNERS course where you learn everything you need and this is the course you need as this is the one that gets you your license. Then they have the ADVANCED course. And even tho I had been riding for years I took this course. I walked away with knowledge that I was like WOW. BTW you ARE required to have a DOT helmit, as well as boots, gloves, Leather and such. Good luck.

I paid a minimal fee to a riders training course, to use their bike at the test site.

They had to bring a bike for the students to use, so allowing me to use it was not

    a problem for them.

Call the schools in your area.
