Has anyone had any experience with infant seizures?

My baby has started to roll her eyes down when on her change table. its like shes looking at her feet but i know she isn't shes only 2 months old. Also sometimes her eyes jiggle. she has had a EEG which came out normal no seizure activity however her movements look like seizure activity. the doctor has checked her out a few times and said all seems normal. has anyone experienced any of this or has had an experience with infant seizures? I am absolutely petrified.

As someone who has lived with epilepsy since childhood, I have collected quite a bit of information on the subject. You didn't mention if the doctor that saw your child was a pediatrician or a neurologist. Sometimes the seizure-like activity could be related to a virus or a fever or simply just muscle spasms. Some babies who are swaddled a lot or too tightly tend to have muscle spasms when released from their swaddle. You also didn't mention if your baby has had a MRI or not and the MRI is actually the best test to use to look for any abnormal brain activity that could cause a seizure. Here are some websites that might be helpful.

My niece started having seizures when she was 1 1/2 years old. I know that the doctors were doing some tests to figure out if she had epilepsy, but my sister won't say whether or not my niece has epilepsy. She's now almost 3 years old, and she hasn't had a seizure in at least 6 months. Her seizures when she had them were full on seizures, and they scared the hell out of my sister.

Babies have a hard time focusing on anything but if you think its more then that then go to the doctor and tell them its still going on... theres really no way to give an eye exam at this early of an age but it could have something to do with your babies sight. I really wouldn't be worried about seizures unless your babies doc thinks that theres symptoms of it and if you dont think the doc is doing enough to figure it out switch doctors or at least get a second opinion. I hope you get the answers you need soon I know how hard it is feeling helpless when it comes to giving your baby what she needs and not know exactly whats wrong. Good luck!

i've got faith that your daughter grow to be having a sezure. no longer all seizures make the newborn to roll lower back her eyes even even with the undeniable fact that it is the shivering and the stiffening of her physique that's extra substantial. I recommend you're making an appt along with her pediatrician ASAP and take her to the ER next time she has a form of seizures. Does she have a fever? grow to be she sick? because of the fact if she had a severe fever-it must be the reason if no longer she needs to have further sorting out. it fairly is a serious rely and you would be able to desire to pay close interest to it and make specific she gets each and every of the attention from docs. confirm you computer screen her while she had a seizure-like what grow to be she doing suited till now that? grow to be she outdoors? grow to be she working? staring at television? etc in basic terms so which you tell your wellbeing care expert and in case there is something that triggers it. yet extra considerable confirm you get her to a doctor ASAP! My buddy's daughter has epilepsy and that i've got seen her had episodes-on a similar time as i grow to be staring at her as nicely. So i understand somewhat approximately it. EDIT to function: ** no longer all seizures reason the newborn to sleep or be fairly drained-in the event that they are that short-i've got seen my buddy's daughter have an episode and 10 minutes later circulate lower back to play like widely used.

my son started to have seizures at 3 months. but his were grand mals. they were picked up on the EEG and the second one he ever had was even wittnessed by a nurse. (obviously i was terrifed when he started convulsing and rushed him to the hospital.) but because of this i've talked to many moms.. and a lot of them have had to have up to three EEGs or MRIs before they figure it out. It IS quite scary. Maybe take him to another doctor for a second opintion if you still think something is off.

however a lot of kids devlope strange little habbits. that can seem unnerving but are harmless. If your worried keep looking into it by all means!

This is not sounding like Grand Mal seizures. Like one of the other people commenting, I have had epilepsy most of my life. It sounds like spasms. It is essential that you remain calm even if this is very difficult for you. If there were Grand Mal seizures taking place you would know it. Your baby would froth at the mouth and go rigid in the limbs and thrash them about uncontrollably. This does not appear to be happening. It you want to take her to a specialist neurologist you should consider taking her to a Paediatric Neurologist. The one that I have found in Brisbane is Dr Kate Riney.

If you live in another capital you could call the epilepsy association and see if they can refer you to a paediatric neurologist in your state. It has to be someone who specialises in epilepsy in small children and babies.

this can be very common with babies, most of them grow out of it at about 18 months or so, but it shouldn't be too serious if the EEG comes normal. you should probably take your baby in for checkups regularly just to make sure everythings still normal, though.
