Yes on the Rudder, but what are the elevators for? If you cause the kite to come closer by up elevator, the string would slacken and cause the kite to tumble. A kite will only stay in the air if the kite is kept in a position so the wind can rush off of it's front surface and that is done bt holding the string tight.

The rudder will work because all it is doing is causing the kite to go left or right or looping depending on it's position.

The answer to the first question is that on a model airplane, (not a kite), turning one aileron up and the other down, through a mechanical linkage, will cause the model to bank left or right and nose down, so elevator input to raise the elevator slightly will cause the model to turn, without losing altitude.

I fly my nitro models with just ailerons and elevator and only use rudder to steer the model on the ground.

Helicopters are fairly troublesome to fly! and that they are seen risky simply by special rotor spinning around. The community RC club has a separate area for helicopters, they don't want them too close to the spectators. some planes are greater handy to fly than others, yet often they're greater handy to fly than helicopters.
