Can't click or drag anything on my computer?

Suddenly, I can't click anything on my desktop or anywhere else on my computer. I also can't drag files or folders. My mouse moves and will highlight whatever it's hovering over, but won't click on it. It just suddenly happened when I came back to my laptop today (I never turned it off). I tried resetting it but that didn't help.

I am using Vista 64-bit and have run anti-malware scans and anti-rootkit scans to no avail. I am able to select programs with my keyboard but not my mouse.

Update:

I'm wondering if it's as simple as a keystroke I pressed, like a function key, that will turn on/off my clicking ability?

Update 2:

It is a laptop (built-in mouse) and yes, I have restarted the computer.

There have to be two issues:

    a. Virus Infection (Use Avast free)

    b. Corrupt Registry/System errors (Use Reginout )

I am sure it will fix for you.
