I'm not one for conspiracy theories, we all do too much talking to have that make sense.

I'm thinking you aren't thinking of the kind of smear jobs that one set does against the other, or individual misrepresentation with the intention of making someone out to be something they aren't.

I'd have to say the biggest conspiracy was Nixon in Watergate, a common burglary that involved people all the way up to the President, and all the way down to his secretary. The burglary was used to try and 'get' something on Democrats, breaking into their campaign quarters. At the same time, Daniel Ellsberg's files were also broken into, again with the intent of using the information to discredit an anti war protester.

In another sense the whole Whitewater 'get 'em' investigation was a conspiracy, starting with why a land deal had to be investigated over twenty times by three different branches of government over twenty years.

The whole deal didn't cost a tenth of those various investigations, and knowing why was the conspiracy.

That's not even going into Paula Jones. The list of amazing coincidence is truly awe inspiring. From its start where the barely literal Ms. Jones claims that she read a right wing publication and just "knew" that everyone in Arkansas would know that Paula was her, and so she sued, not the publication, but the President, who, I'm sure, would not have given permission, nor blabbed about it to anyone. Why didn't she sue the magazine or the person who wrote it? Answer: She was paid to sue the President.

And the peculiar tie-ins, Linda Tripp was Foster's secretary, Linda Tripp, a middle aged woman 'befriends' Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp is a friend of the Goldburgs conservative commentators/pundits/PR people.

Monica keeps a dress on Tripp's advice, unwashed in her closet for years. If those actions don't spell conspiracy then you have to take the Easter Bunny on faith.

The use of that to try and overthrow a duly elected official, the President of the US, is really a very grim conspiracy.

that would have to be 9/11 without a doubt. people still believe that it was done by OBL and nothing could be further from the truth, but people can't really handle the truth most days. but hey if they want to think a guy in a cave got by our defenses and told our guys to stand down, I say go for it.
