Backpacking Asia on a Shoestring?

Anyone have good info. on Airfare from LAX to Bangkok or Taipei? It seems to fluctuate a great deal and I don't know when the low seasons are. Also, any tips on Hostels would be great.

If you just want to get here... about the cheapest is Vietnam air. About $700 round trip LA to Saigon-Ho chi Minh city airport code SGN from there, continental SE Asia is cheap and easy.

Use Kuala lumpur or Singapore for the southern archipelago's travel hubs. Air asia is based out of KL.

High season is summer and christmas.

Low season April and June September october november. September is good because most tourist have cleared out. the weather is cooler and prices are down. For transport around asia, bus's are really cheap. with open bus tickets allowing you time when you want to stay some where.

Air Asia and Jet Star Air, Tiger Air are all cheap and allow you to move around quicker if you want.

I have cheat sheets for SE Asia, Bali, Cambodia and some for cities in Vietnam. Drop me and email
