Yahoo wants me to verify a "new" id that I've had for years. Anyone know if it's a scam?

Here's the first part of the e-mail: Verify this email address You recently added a new email address to your Yahoo! account, or initiated verification of an existing email address. To verify that you own this email address, simply click on the link below. And as always, there's a link. But I have not requested verification, and I DO NOT have a new yahoo Id or e-mail address.

Update:

Here's where the e-mail came from

yahoo-account-services-us@cc.yahoo-inc.com

Update 2:

I didn't use the link they sent. I e-mailed yahoo this morning about it. Still waiting for a reply. I just want to make sure they find out about this one.

Forward that email to to phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com and ask if they sent it to you, pointing out that you have NOT created any new IDs or initiated verification and don't do anything until you hear back fromthem

Yes, it's a scam. New or old, it's a common scam. Yahoo! will NEVER ask for your password in an email. Just delete that email.
