MYCAA? Any info please?

Can anyone give me some tips on MYCAA?

The school I was wanting to attend isn't listed. Is the requesting process for the school to get involed easy?

Do I have to enlist before submitting my app?

Can I also take online classes?

Thanks for you help!

Update:

Enroll* not enlist

The process for a school to become eligible takes at least 60 days, and there is no guarantee that the school will be approved by MyCAA. The application can only be completed by school officials.

Online classes are available. Since the purpose of MyCAA is to provide spouses with a portable education, the majority of the available programs are offered online.

This is also why they will not cover a bachelor's or master's degree. The program is specifically to provide a spouse with an education that s/he can use anywhere they are stationed. They will cover certifications, licensures, and some associate degrees.

You can do a career or program search to find a participating school with your chosen field of study at the MyCAA website or through MilitaryOneSource. You have to have your education plan and funding approved by MyCAA before you enroll in any school. And you don't need a student ID number to apply for the financial aid; filling in that box on the form is optional.

    Hope that helps, good luck!

MyCAA has been a disaster. Started, then stopped, then reinstated with massive restrictions.

Flat truth, if your school is not listed, then don't expect MyCAA to start the approval process with expedited dedication. If your school that you are already enrolled in is approved, then you need to submit the classes you are taking (course number, professor name) and degree plan before they will approve financial coverage. You need a student ID number before you can apply for MyCAA; this means you need to be enrolled in the school. Contact the MyCAA advisors. The entire process is complicated.

Wait, what do you mean do you need to "enlist"? MyCAA is for dependents.

i wanted to use it and then they stopped it and by the time they started it back up i had a scholarship elsewhere that paid for everything..the thing about it is this...its not for college classes its for something you can take with you wherever you may be stationed...cosmetologist, etc. not a degree program
