The motive behind observing Chauth' festival is akin to any other festival. The society at large approves of it & every one celebrates it. The festival is observed by ladies whose husbands are alive. On this day they observe fast & pray for the long life of their husbands. The story behind this festival relates to ancient days when a lady was able to save her husband from the clutches of death. The modern day fasting depicts that the wife loves & cares for the husband praying for his long life. The Qs asked relates to the relationship of a couple which might be strained throughout the year yet the lady observes the ritual as prevalent in the society.Well, this can be seen as the sweetness of the relationship or the sincerity on part of the lady.
