Do you remember when Halloween candy was Full-Size candy bars?

Instead of these teensy weensy pieces of candy they give out now?

You have to go to 10 houses now to get the same amount of candy you used to get at one house.

BQ - Where's the Fun in fun-size candy?

BQ2 - Ever get your bag of candy stolen by some older kid? Did you cry, get mad, or get even?

Update:

I guess I'm the only kid that got their bag of candy stolen.

We used to alter our costumes and double back to the houses with good stuff, and some even gave away money when they ran out of treats.

BA - Cramming the whole thing into your mouth at once can be sorta fun.

BA2: Yeah, my big brother, and I did all three in that exact order.

hahaha I just saw Amy's answer, yeah I can relate :)

No. I don't think full sized ones were ever given out except by people who had money to spend or wanted to be liked. But I do remember when regular sized candy bars were much bigger than they are now, like the Snickers bar was around 4 ounces or so. And the Halloween candy the stores sold were about half the size of the regular bars, so by comparison they were just a little smaller than today's regular sized bars.

BQ - The fun is supposed to be in being able to pop a complete candy in your mouth instead of having to take bites.

BQ2 - Nope, but my mom would go through all of our bags of candy (six kids) and pull out the "suspicious" looking ones saying that they might have been tampered with. We'd catch her chomping down on those pieces of candy, though, instead of having thrown them away. Also, I'd sometimes catch her opening up the end of the wrapper of a candy she liked when inspecting our candy and then claim it was like that and had been tampered with, so we couldn't have it.

In the 70s I got the small sized candy bars and occasionally a full sized one. Candy cost a lot less back then. What tripped me out is when people gave apples. Sometimes people used to give out change too.

BQ I like it because now I'm older I have to watch my figure

BQ That never happened to me.

Beatle, In my neighborhood, there are so few children that many people give out full size bars today.....makes me a happy dad!

BA: Maybe they should be called tastes!

BA2: No, but I did have to "enforce" once when my younger brothers were taken advantage of. ALso, I did have a bottle of alcohol purloined by a senior at a high school party way back when.....didn't do anything then!

Yes I do remember getting & giving full size candy...all those years ago.

BQ: In the size of hips being smaller ;)

BQ2: No. Never happened to me.

*Wire & String...funny you mentioned snow. I grew up in northern Maine and one year on Halloween it snowed a foot+. Needless to say, we didn't get much candy that year :(

When we last had kids come around, we gave out the full size bars. The kids thought we were the greatest.

BA - The fun is it is small enough to hide before you throw it at someone.

BA2 - Nope. We had a gang of kids go around together every year.

No, I don't remember that, but I remember alot more homemade stuff.

BQ: I get more variety when I have to remove candy during "inspections". :)

BQ2: Once, my daughter and her friend stashed a big load of candy behind a church so they could go bombing unencumbered, and when they came back it was gone. I was furious! I wound up bringing home shaving cream covered kids with no candy to share. >:(

I still give out full-sized candy bars. It's a family tradition started by my mom years ago, and now that I'm in my own house in a different state I continue it.

A few years ago, my mom's doorbell rang on Halloween. She got her tray of full-sized bars and answered the door to a lovely little princess, who quite properly said her "trick-or-treat" and "thank you". A few minutes later the doorbell rang again. It was the girl's mom. "I used to live up the street and remembered trick-or-treating at your house as a little girl." she said. "I just wanted my daughter to have the same experience. Thank you."

Yes........I gained weight in those days after Oct. 31!

BQ1 Not fun, unless you down about 4 of them.

BQ2 No, I was lucky I guess no big kids stole mine.

Also, some houses would give money if they didn't have candy....lights on or off, we knocked!

There were a few houses in my neighborhood that gave away full size bars. But back then the fun size was still fun...not the bite size pieces they are now.

    BQ: :(

BQ2: No, that never happened to me. If it did, I probably would have cried...no Reese's peanut butter cups is a very sad thing!
