home theater tech heads... help me pick among these 3 choices please?

I've narrowed my search down to these 3 receivers. Please tell me which one you would pick, and why. Thanks!

1. Pioneer Elite VSX-32 for $570.00

2. Pioneer VSX-1120-K for $515.00

3. Onkyo TX-NR808 for $620.00

Thank you for your time and advice!

I would probably get a Denon AVR 791 in that price range less expensive than the Onkyo but with the features I want...What I like about the Denon is that it has the Advanced Audyssey MultEQ which is the feature I would like to have, also I think Denon's amps are a little cleaner than Onkyo or even the Pioneer, especially for music CD;s which I like to listen to on the HT... The pioneer Elite would be good if you use an I phone or I pod a lot...What I have head is that the advanced audyssey multieq not only sets the volume and the delay but also try's to match the tone of each speaker to one another so that you get a smoother transition between speakers in surround...actually the Pionner Elite and the Onkyo 808 are both fine machines and would also be good choices...

  • I would pair what my speakers can take in power running through them with what the receiver can push in watts. If the power rating is at minimum 90% of the speakers capacity, then that dog will hunt. Given all of your choices are in a close grouping in price, and features, I would compare what more do I get with the most expensive compared to the least. I would consider what are all the many features, what does it all do? Most importantly, what do I want it for? Is this for movies? Is music the priority? Is this unit for throwing parties every Friday night? Will this type of receiver help me produce media?

I believe for you these questions are where the rubber meets the road. All else is a tie. Neither has an advantage over the other, both are fine options and worth every cent, if you love fine audio.

    Best.
