why was facebook such a revolution. It wasnt significantly different to myspace. it wasnt a new idea?

It was an adult response to myspace, because myspace was generally a teenager site, facebook was very much an adult site.

It was the same idea. But facebook has always been simpler. Not requiring special tailoring of the page for looks or anything. Instead concentrating more on the idea of relating to each other.
Myspace was more of a personal web page that is linked to others, whereas facebook is a profile linked to others and so easier to work with.
Most people do not want to spend a lot of time on cosmetics. They prefer to just get on with relating.
Many do not even know how to do the cosmetics. Which is why facebook appeals to more people then myspace did.

Facebook is better for keeping in touch and chatting with friends. The layout (to me) is better. But I still use myspace to keep in touch with small time musicians.

Both are stupendously stupid sites. On the one hand everybody is frightened to death about identity fraud and here we have people revealing all on an insecure website. (Yes- insecure. Man invents 'Safe'. Man breks into 'Safe'.)
