Do you have a preference for frying oil? I'm a peanut oil guy, but it is expensive. Need the money for more twister tails.
Grand Master-Come to S. OH, I'll fix you fish and they are biting right now and Fall is beautiful here. Ruger is probably right. Anybody try lard? I think you can get it almost as hot as p. oil without breaking down.
OK Wolf, now were getting what I am really interested in-high temp and the next thing, do you notice much difference in flavor. Maybe I should have posted to the cooking section, but the gloating wouldn't have meant the same.lol

hmmm i always use soy oil, its not that expensive either.
if all you are looking for is an oil with a high smoking point then avocado and grapeseed oil are the ones with the highest, soy is also up there along with peanut, ive used both avocado and soy, i like them both, but soy is easier to find for me.

stick with peanut oil try (shore lunch) brand fish breading. you should be able to come up with a few bucks for twister tails

I'm a peanut oil kinda guy also. You could try vegetable oil, but then again... maybe not.

olive oil is good......also i prefer canola oil over straight veggie oil for most frying situations......
