What would you like to ask? ill water dragon?

I have had 2 water dragons for about 2 years now. They are kept inteh same cage, fed the same. One is perfectly healthy, the other is terribly ill. The smaller (only slightly smaller) has always had health issues. Every 4-5 months I would have to iso him for a few days. He has always gotten better before but this time he is getting worse.

It starts by him being listless, then he will stop moving areuond and eating all together and just lay with his eyes closed all day. This is when I normally out him in an iso tank, up the heat and baby him. I use a medicine dropper to get him water and vitamins. After a day or so he normally perks right up and is back to normal. I dont have a reptile vet anywhere near me, and I called my old one and he said there is probably nothign they could do anyhow.

I was just wondering if anyon eelse has had this problem or anything similar. I know its not the tank, heating, lighting, since the other one is perfectly fine.

I'm unsure what it is, Maybe parasites, maybe just "bullying". Even though a vet said they might not be able to do anything take it anyway. It's better to know what's going on than to be left in the dark. If your Water Dragon (is it a Green or Brown?) is suffering a vet could give it a quick and painless death (sorry...).

You need to separate the two, and you should have when you first saw the problems. Quarantine the water dragon until you know what's wrong, and it's been handled. You don't want to risk the health of the other.

Remember that without actually seeing the reptile people on Y!A won't be able to give you a definite answer. Go to a vet, and separate the lizards.

I hope this helps, and good luck. ;)

sounds like he is `stressing being housed with the larger animal. he may even be getting picked on by the larger dragon. if you are able set the smaller one up in it's own enclosure and see if this helps. from what info you gave my belief is its stress related. if you are housing two males in the same enclosure then that's the problem. he gets better when you remove him from the other dragon then when you return him to the enclosure with the other dragon he gets sick again it is almost certainly stress related. hope this helps
