firstly, realise that you're reading a passage from the bible that talks about god telling ONE man what that ONE man could do, not the entire world and their kids.

secondly, if you take the bible literally (which is was never meant for), then i'm sorry, but you really should go and live in a creationist community out in the woods somewhere where nobody can find you and where you can't reek your havoc upon the world.

This is a reference to law not the actual word of God. It's in reference to who someone could take as a slave and who couldn't. If you read the rest of the Book of Leviticuz you would know that it was written Hebrew law. Taking one Biblical reference out of context is hardly a way to discredit religion as a whole.
