Hi,the best video format for iPod touch is 640x480 mp4(avc/h.264 video encoder, aac audio encoder) videos, so you can't directly copy your 1080p movie to play on ipod, you need to use a right software to convert your 1080p movie to the right iPod touch mp4 movie, then put on iPod to play well. I am using RZ Video Converter which can convert any videos or audios between different formats with good quality, such as convert your 1080p movie to the right iPod touch mp4 movie, etc. Yahoo or google search and download RZ Video Converter. Hope it can help you.

iPod touch 3g is friendly with .mp4, .m4v or .mov. But generally, if you wanna get top video output quality, it's recommended iPod H.264 video (*.mp4). You can't directly copy a blue-ray 1080p movie to ipod touch. Just get a dvd converter then you can easily rip movies to iPod. I share with you this professional DVD to iPod Converter.

iPod supports only mp4 and h.264 video, you have to convert your video to iPod compatible video at first, then add the converted mp4 video to iTunes library, plug in your iPod to computer, sync your iPod with iTunes, that's all. If you need detailed info, here is a step by step guide will teach you how to put DVD and video to iPod

iPod only accepts MP4 and H.264 video. So you should first convert your video to iPod supported video.Or you can rip the movie.

I recommend you Tipard Blu-ray to iPod Ripper.

It is professional and powerful. It can convert Blu-ray disc to your iPod playable video with fast conversion speed and high quality.

hi, guy, it is easy to check it out, but first, you should know the standard TV and video supported by iPod (from apple.com):

    1. H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

    2. MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

I ever got many DVDs and i could not backup them on my iPod either, and got my videos in .avi, .flv, .mov, .wmv, .3gp format etc, even some MP4 could not compatible with my iPod either. So, first I convert them to Apple iPod video format with SnowFox DVD & Video to iPod Converter. It could convert dvds/vids and add the converted videos to iTunes automatically, and what i need do is just to drag the files to iPod.
