Hi,the best video format for iPod touch is 640x480 mp4(avc/h.264 video encoder, aac audio encoder) videos, so you can't directly copy your 1080p movie to play on ipod, you need to use a right software to convert your 1080p movie to the right iPod touch mp4 movie, then put on iPod to play well. I ever got many DVDs and i could not backup them on my iPod either, and got my videos in .avi, .flv, .mov, .wmv, .3gp format etc, even some MP4 could not compatible with my iPod either.
