Gehrig, Berra, and DiMaggio are the only other players to have two game winning series hits.
Renteria's career World Series numbers are 2 HR, 10 RBI, and a .333 batting average. Not bad but hardly worthy of being the best ever. Don't forget, in his other World Series appearance in 2004 he made the last out of the series for St. Louis.
Renteria's numbers pale in comparison to guys like:
Paul Molitor (2, 11, .418)
Lou Brock (4, 13, .390)
Hank Aaron (3, 9, .364)
Frank Baker (3,18, .362)
Roberto Clemente (2, 7, .362)
Lou Gehrig (10, 35, .361)
Reggie Jackson (10, 24, .357)
Carl Yastrzemski (3, 9, .352)
Jimmie Foxx (4, 11, .344)
Billy Martin (5, 19, .333)
Al Simmons (6, 17, .329)
Babe Ruth (15, 33, .326)
Not to mention pitchers like Mariano Rivera, Bob Gibson, Christy Mathewson and others.

As mentioned, Gehrig, Berra, and DiMaggio have all done it as well.
So Renteria is the first non-Yankee to do it, but not the first player.
Interestingly, he also made the final out for St. Louis in the 2004 World Series loss against Boston. So he's won two World Series and been the last out in another! I haven't looked it up, but I think he's the only one to do that.

Now, he's put his name alongside Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra as the only players with two World Series-winning hits. Yogi Berra is the best ever World Series player He holds career WS records 71 hits, 10 doubles, 12 HR's. Mickey Mantle had 18 WS career HR's and 26 extra base hits. Billy Hatcher batted .750 for the Reds in the 1990 World Series. Babe Ruth had 10 hits, 22 total bases and scored 9 runs & Lou Gehrig had 4 HR's and scored 9 runs in 4 games in the 1928 World Series.

Yes, they mentioned it on SportsCenter this morning. Three other people have accomplished this: Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and Lou Gehrig. Renteria has put his name in a very elite group, if you ask me.

i could say Rockies because of the fact became greater desirable in comparison to whilst they performed the purple Soxs some years in the past interior the worldwide sequence. the only element the Giants have over the Rockies is their rotation. i think of the Rockies have an more advantageous offense and protective interest then the Giants.
