Why do people always seem to associate techno with Japanese anime?
A simple stroll to Youtube, and a keystroke of the word "techno" in the search, and you're on your way to music heaven, but with a video filled with Japanese little girls with inproportional bodies and high pitched voice.
My question is, where do people get the idea that techno and anime mix. In my own opinion, they're two very different things, and it annoys me that every person that watches something on TV from Japan has to associate it with everything, be it music, films, or random crap that they make up.

Because Techno can be altered to fit anything and its kind of hard to find music for anime, but Techno can be changed to somethin upbeat and kiddy-ish...like DDR. People/kids like to be happy and Asians like to be upbeat, I'd rather have kids listen to anime music than rap. I think it puts them in a better mood than other music. Techno is everywhere now, even in hip hop and r&b songs on the radio now. And for some reasons a lot of Asians like clubbing and raving and Techno is there, then you put another thing they like which is anime, and boom what you get is the mix.

I'm a huge fan of Japanese music and I never think of J-music as techno, but I guess I agree with the person above. Much of the music in anime and video games are techno. The other thing is that people for some reason like to look at the Japanese from a narrow viewpoint. For example, I keep hearing people say that anime look white because of blue eyes and blonde hair. My reply is "what about red eyes and blue hair"? Green hair? Pink? Purple? Most of the time, they ignore me, stay quiet, or are in denial.
It annoyes me as well. I'm sick of people who think they love Japanese culture based on anime, sushi, and video games. You ask them about real Japanese celebrities and they're frozen. They refer to Japanese music as anime music. Most songs by J-artists aren't in anime.

it's probably because of all the japanese rhythm games like ddr and parapara that use those types of music that has made it a popular genre among people who like those things, they often feature anime characters. also, most anime conventions (in the US anyways) typically have techno dance parties or raves after each night of the con.
