Is it okay to vacation in Dominican Republic after hurricane Tomas?

I'm planning a 5-day vacation during the Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 25-29) to visit a resort in La Romano in the Dominican Republic.

Now, that hurricane Tomas will be sweeping through Haiti and inevitably affect DR will the southern shore of DR be affected much? Should I postpone this trip?

I also live in Puerto Rico and we got nothing from Tomas. I don't think it hit DR very hard at all and although it's still swirling around out there I think you'll be fine.

Call your hotel NEXT week, it hasn't even gotten up there yet but the track on NOAA http://www.noaawatch.gov/2010/tc_at21.php shows it going on the west side of the island, hitting Haiti and being close to Cuba. But it is still way to early to tell if there will be any problems other than we can probably expect many more Haitians to die.

Call the hotel to verify, but from what I saw about Thomas it was not something big to worry much.

    (I live in PR).

DON't Postpone....if you go, get travel insurance. and if it's interrupted, you'll get compensated.
