With the GOP having the largest majority in the house since 1928...?

...will history repeat itself with another great depression starting the yar after that majority was attained?

The situation is far different in 1928 compared to 2010. Comparatively 1929 and 2008 are similar years and 2010 is closer to 1933 than 1928. The Great Recession has already occurred and we are in the process of trying to fix it. It's only a correlation that the largest Republican majority in the House was followed by the Great Depression, not a causation. Republicans had firmly been in control of government since 1918 and 1928 was only their Zenith.

Your facts are wrong. Commentators on the major networks last night were quick to point out that the GOP majority post election is less than the Dem majority pre-election. Unemployment grew 30% during that majority and home foreclosures were at an all time historic high.

More than likely, you will see many of the socialized programs cut, unemployment run out for most unemployed people, which will result in local buisness losses which will further result in more people unemployed. It depends from there, if congress decides to do nothing to help the unemployed then it will only get worst.

More than likely the only thing congress will agree with is another war, my bets are on Iran.

The Democrats held a larger minority after the 1982 midterm elections, holding 269 seats as opposed to the 240 seats that Republicans now hold.

    Nothing historical at all.

Maybe, but now instead of blaiming congress, the right wing will blame Obama if things go bad.

What would a GOP-controlled house have to do with a depression?
